Welcome to Pidley and Fenton
Beautiful gardens of Pidley
Pidele et Fenton (13th century); Pidel, Puddele, Pydele, Fenton (14th century) and Pidley and Fenton (Modern)The villages of Pidley and Fenton lie next to one another on the road between Ramsey and Somersham and together form the Parish of Pidley with Fenton. The modern village of Pidley is spread along Warboys Road from the Church and junction of Fen Road to the junction of Warboys Road with the Oldhurst to Somersham road, locally known as the High Street. The village is famous for the Pidley Mountain Rescue Team but more about that later. The small rural hamlet of Fenton, little more than a few houses and a couple of farms, is further along Warboys Road towards Ramsey. Pidley and Fenton is one of the parishes of the District of Huntingdonshire, whose administrative centre is Huntingdon, the other principle towns being St Ives home of the Chapel on the Bridge, St Neots the largest town in the County of Cambridgeshire and Ramsey site of the former Abbey. We were lucky to have fabulous sunshine for our guided tour and many of us found the visit to the crocodile enclosure both scary and informative...... we were informed of the conservation and breeding programmes ensuring the future for rare breeds, and on the tour you can see various unusual animals for a British Farm. The family aim to be the best at what they do and are therefore proud to show you how they prepare the food including many items which are by-products of their work..like tubs of brawn for instance.
